In albums, in frames, on tables, hung on walls, projected in slides, in magazines and catalogues, exhibited in museums, in books … the photographs show us persons and people who were caught in a second of their lives by a camera, and one second later were dispersed, they aged, grew, matured, were happy or had to endure.
The photographs are also influenced by the passage of time, the paper becomes dark and the image weakens. This contrasted face, darkened by the Sun turns into a kind of ghost until it disappears, but they do not age as us, they do it supporting the image detained in this precise instant of life in which they were born, as in a pause of frozen features. Millions and millions of photographs that seem to shape a cemetery of the arrested time. This second, this look retained in an instant, will happen to turn into its own recollection of the passed moment. Who knows whose eyes will contemplate us in the future wondering who we were?
62 DAYS is an intimate diary that consists, as its name indicates, of sixty two collages carried out in and inspired by the city of New York during our stay from October 1 to December 1, 2008.
62 DAYS is a countdown for discovering the city, its stereotypes, its secrets and its great diversity….
A kind of public family album that allows us to materialize the memories, as if it were a warehouse of the memory, from where we can always extract the passed moments.
A sacred deposit where the photograph turns into a portrait of the society, a kind of prothesis that helps us, even coming to supplant our memory; and creating this way a visual diary that compose the dermis of our more intimate I.
